![]() ![]() I will just leave it at that for now and see what Support says. I'm no PC pro, but I have no trouble tinkering about and getting things to work normally. I also tried the other methods besides using GOG Downloader, but they are the same. There were just two actual 'clickable' links:īecause the patch is listed underneath the main download, I would have assumed that it is included in the main download, although that is just an assumption this new system of GOG's that involves more stages if you want to use the GOG Downloader - is not very clear with regards to what is actually being downloaded and, frankly a slight pain. I've noticed this with a few games that use this new system of GOG's. In the list of links there was a windows patch, but it was technically *not* an actual link that could be clicked on so that it could be downloaded seperately. ![]() When I downloaded the game using the installer, I looked at the download links for the GOG downloader. Have you tried installing the patch as administrator? Yes, I tried installing it as an administrator, no joy. I had no problems installing it on Windows 7. Maybe the error is running in the backround somehow, and I can't see it? It's mystifying.Random_Coffee: That seems strange, as GOG has made it clear that the Windows-patch is not included in the original install from GOG. I looked where it was from, and it had to do with SRS Premium Sound (no idea why though). I don't have any black screen or error message from the super patch, but an "untitled window" has showed up in my taskbar after playing. They only stop working AFTER I have played Carma 2, but everything works normally after I restart my computer. Basically, Doom and Hexen work fine normally. Basically, it causes an error when quitting the game and for me leaves a black screen that eventually shows an error message (I have to press Alt-Tab to get to the error message in order to click okay to get back to the desktop). I think the v2 Super Patch is the origin of the exit issue, and GOG uses a modified super patched version as far as I'm aware. Which is it?Īlso, there is an issue when exiting Carmageddon 2 even on non-GOG versions (like mine). OS: Windows XP / Vista / 7 / 8 Processor: 1.8 GHz Processor Memory: 512 MB RAM Graphics: 3D graphics card compatible with DirectX 7 Storage: 1 GB available. You did say Doom and Hexen were affected too, now you say they are fine. Korell: You can only try different driver versions to see how they get on with the games. Does it run any background processes that don't exit properly or something? How would I check my driver to see if it is handling Carma 2 well? It handles Doom and Hexen fine, but the problem only starts after I exit out of Carma 2. Oh, and check your graphics driver in case it is that that isn't handling the games well. Don't know whether they'll make a difference but it wouldn't do any harm to be up to date with them. 9 reeboker 12:46pm Originally posted by Impending Rentacle Tape: It runs perfectly fine in windows 7 here. The ultimate solution should be to just remove the spyware, adware, and keylogging that is built in to windows 10 by installing windows 7 instead. However, you could try making sure all your libraries are up to date, such as DirectX. It runs perfectly fine in windows 7 here. Once I've told it is okay it doesn't ask again. I know my AV (I use Avast) picks up on some executables and runs them in sandbox mode for testing before minimizing it and asking me if it is okay. ![]() My first thought would be as Strijkbout mentioned, looking at Firewall, but also looking at anti-virus. Korell: Well, as DOSBox and ZDoom are different programs and work differently, and definitely differently to Carmageddon 2, I'm going to say that it isn't the games that are causing this minimizing problem. ![]()
